Summary
The present publication is divided into three chapters. The first chapter characterizes both the structure and the workings of floriculture farms and presents the production and marketing of the main floral species; it covers topics such as size of holdings, types of floriculture (cut flowers, main foliage and branches, ornamental plants), installation (open-air, greenhouse, shelterwood), machinery and equipment, watering, greenhouses park, labour force, production by type of floriculture, marketing products and place of sale. The second chapter presents a set of statistical tables with data broken down to NUTS level 1 and Agrarian Region. The tables were selected among the data from the Floriculture Survey 2002, to give an overview of the floriculture sector. For a better understanding of data, the third chapter includes the methodology and concepts of the survey.
