The present edition covers a set of subjects, namely: the migration dynamics affecting the population structure of the Alentejo Region; the census latest trends and the socio-demographic features on the census probabilities.
The European Union historical backgrounds, the principles leading to its foundation and the progress observed in its successive enlargements, as well as the impacts of the European integration at an institutional level, are some of the topics covered in this issue. The summary of this expansion is complemented with statistical data for resident population in the EU context, through all the different stages and covering the member-states involved.
At last, and similarly to the previous editions, the present edition examines the Portugal’s demographic situation with basis on the newest information available, highlightening the more relevant changes occurred and factors determining them.
