The goal of this study is to find certain suicide behaviour patterns and trends in Portugal, derived from official statistics, with greater emphasis in the 90’s. Based on the matching of certain demographic and socio-economic variables such as gender, age, marital status, the method of suicide, seasonality, employment status, profession, among others, we have endeavoured to analyse the behaviour patterns of the total and working population in order to obtain an global perspective of the problem in Portugal.
