Summary
Tourist activity in EU27 establishments, as well as in Portugal, registered a downward trend in overnight stays which started in 2008, as opposed to the growth recorded in the 2005 to 2007 period. In 2009, the EU27 hotel establishments accounted 1 514 million overnight stays, which represented a decrease of 3.9% compared with 2008, while Portugal registered 36 million overnight stays, which corresponded to a year-on-year decrease of 7.1%.
