Summary
Rainfalls in March did not contribute significantly to an easing of the draught situation. Current concerns go beyond present crops and start to focus on the spring season. In February the Producer Price Index for agricultural products as a whole did not suggest significant changes from the previous month. The strong increase in prices of fresh vegetables in the wake of the draught situation was offset by the sharp fall in poultry prices.
