From January to April 2008, hotel establishments had 3.7 million registered guests and 10.1 million overnight stays, accounting for a year-on-year increases of 4.5% and 1.8%, respectively. France, the Netherlands and the UK were the main tourism markets, increasing the number of overnight stays when compared with the same period of 2007.
In April 2008, hotel activity registered 3.1 million overnight stays, accounting for a year-on-year decrease of 11%, compared with April 2007, due to the Easter effect, which occurred in March, as opposed to last year’s Easter in April.
