Summary
In the 3rd quarter of 2011, when comparing with the same period of the previous year, there was a 8.5% growth in transport of goods in the mainland ports whereas there were decreases in railway (-10.8%) and air transport (-1.6%) of goods. The transport of passengers presented different trends according to each mode of transport, with a 5% rise in air transport, as opposed to the 5.4%, 3.3% and 1.2% decreases showed in inland waterway transport, heavy railway transport and light rail systems, respectively.
