particularly human, requires additional personal efforts
for our experts. This situation has nonetheless the
advantage of “learning from experience”, rendering
cooperation activities richer and fruitful for everyone
involved.

Capacitação Estatística da CPLP, que aspetos identifica
como mais importantes nas relações de cooperação que
o INE estabelece com os países da lusofonia? Quais as
perspetivas de futuro, na cooperação estatística para o
desenvolvimento?

Near the completion of the first CPLP Statistical
Capacity-building Programme, what aspects do you
identify as the most important in the relations of
cooperation established by Statistics Portugal with the
Portuguese-speaking countries? What are the future
perspectives in statistical development cooperation?
Uma ação de cooperação, seja em que área for, envolve
sempre dois ou mais parceiros. Assim sendo, o sucesso
de uma ação de cooperação decorre sempre do
interesse, empenhamento e compromisso que esses
parceiros colocam na concretização dessa ação. Neste
contexto, as relações de cooperação estatística no seio
da Lusofonia têm por objetivo o desenvolvimento de
capacidades e a troca de experiências e boas práticas,
que já referi, sempre com o objetivo final de aperfeiçoar
os sistemas estatísticos envolvidos. O INE de Portugal
continuará a dispensar o maior “carinho” a esta
cooperação, de acordo com os recursos de que dispuser,
mas principalmente, com base na utilidade e qualidade
dessa cooperação e dos resultados efetivos que forem
alcançados.
A vontade é de manter a relevância da vertente
Cooperação na atividade do INE. Para tal, o Conselho
Diretivo vai continuar a estimulá-la e a apoiá-la com os
instrumentos (limitados) de que dispõe. Por outro lado,
da parte dos técnicos do INE “chamados” a protagonizá-
la deverá continuar a contar-se com a mesma dedicação
que lhe têm devotado até agora. Da parte dos técnicos
dos INEs dos membros da CPLP espera-se genuíno
interesse embeneficiar da experiência/boas práticas que
o INE de Portugal poderá transmitir e empenhamento
em reproduzi-las, com as devidas adaptações, nos
respetivos sistemas estatísticos nacionais.
A cooperation action, in whatever area, always
involves two or more partners. As such, the success
of cooperation naturally derives from the interest,
engagement and commitment placed by the partners
involved. In this context, the relations of statistical
cooperation within the Lusophone world aim to building
capacity and to exchanging experiences and best
practices, as I mentioned, always with the final goal
of improving the statistical systems involved. Statistics
Portugal will continue to pay the greatest attention to
this cooperation, according to the resources available
but mainly based on the usefulness and quality of such
cooperation and on the concrete results achieved.
There is willingness to maintain the relevance of the
cooperation strand within the activity of Statistics
Portugal. To this end, the Board will continue to
encourage and support cooperation with the available,
and limited, instruments at its disposal. On the other
hand, on the side of the experts called upon to participate
in cooperation activities, the same dedication they have
shown so far should remain. On the side of experts from
the statistical offices of the CPLP members, a genuine
interest in profiting from the experience/best practices
of Statistics Portugal is expected, along with a strong
commitment to replicate them, mutatis mutandis, in
their national statistical systems.
