desenvolveu o Relatório Suco ou o Censos Fó Fila Fali.
O Relatório Suco inclui o perfil da população, com
agregação por idade e sexo, educação, acesso a
unidades de saúde, saneamento, infraestrutura, entre
outros.
Não só a DGE desempenha um papel de
aconselhamento a líderes políticos a deputados, como
o governo utiliza o Relatório dos Censos como
orientação para um melhor planeamento e decisão
política. Isto está em linha com o mandato e visão da
DGE no sentido de ser um forte parceiro para o
desenvolvimento de Timor Leste.
Yes right, in a post conflict country and in the phase of
state building, the role of GDS is very important in
assisting by providing statistical services as evidence
base for the decision maker and other stakeholders to
ensure better decisionmaking.
As a real model and practice exercise is the stage of
dissemination of the Census result: GDS has developed
the Suco Report or Census Fó Fila Fali. The Suco report
includes population profile with aggregation by age
and sex, education, access to health facilities,
sanitation, infrastructure and so forth.
Not only is GDS playing a role in encouraging the
political leaders and the parliament members, but also
the government uses the Census report in terms of
guidance for better planning and better decision
making. This is in line with GDS vision and mandate to
be close partners for the development of Timor Leste.
Face ao enorme desafio que a adoção dos Objetivos
de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS) representará
para todos os sistemas estatísticos nacionais, que
desafios considera caracterizarem especificamente o
panorama estatístico timorense, nomeadamente na
sua capacidade de responder às necessidades de
informação impostas pela lista de indicadores dos
ODS?
Taking into account the enormous challenge that the
adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals poses
on all national statistical systems, what particular
challenges would you identify as characterizing the

os ODM. Para nós, que somos considerados um país
muito pequeno, e estando a DGE na sua fase de
consolidação e capacitação de recursos humanos,
perspetivamos os ODS como um desafio, mas também
como uma oportunidade. Timor Leste, atualmente a
liderar o Secretariado do g7+, vê o objetivo 16 dos ODS,
“Promover sociedades pacíficas e inclusivas para o
desenvolvimento sustentável, prover o acesso à justiça
para todos, e criar instituições eficazes, confiáveis e
inclusivas a todos os níveis”, como o mais importante.
Para nós, a responsabilidade de garantir o
cumprimento dos ODS não se limita à DGE, mas deve
constituir um compromisso nacional. No contexto de
Timor Leste demonstrámos o nosso compromisso com
os ODS, bem como o nosso envolvimento desde a sua
fase inicial.
Timorese statistical scene, namely in relation to its
response capacity regarding the SDGs indicators?
As the SDG's are coming with many goals when
compared to theMDG's, for us who are considered as a
tiny country, and the GDS is just in stage of building the
institution and capability of the staff, we are observing
the goals of SDG's as a challenge and then also as an
opportunity. Timor-Leste, as right now leading the
secretariat of g7+, sees the goal 16 of SDG's, “Promote
peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable
development, provide access to justice for all and build
effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all
levels” as the most important goal of the overall SDG's.
For us, the responsibility to ensure the SDG's goals does
not only belong to GDS but it should be a national
commitment. In the context of Timor Leste we have
demonstrated commitment to SDGs goals as well as
our involvement since the initial stage.
