Tourism Statistics 2007 presents the main statistical findings on the activity of the tourism sector, namely about accommodation capacity, guests and overnight stays, as well as the total revenue of hotel and similar establishments classified as being of tourist interest by the Portugal National Tourism Authority (TP).
The main sources of information are the hotel and similar establishments’ survey and other data concerning hotel activity, the camping sites, camp holiday and youth hotel surveys, conducted by Statistics Portugal, as well as other information available from the Portugal National Tourism Authority and the Portuguese Central Bank, as duly referred in the text.

Since 2001, this publication also disseminates the main results of the tourist demand survey, carried out on an annual basis, providing information about the characterisation of tourist trips by residents.

From 2006 on, Tourism Statistics publishes the main results of the cross border movements’ survey, reporting data about resident and non resident visitors’ flows at the borders.
