Statistical users assign a prominent role to the timing of information. In fact, as users of statistical information, you all would like to obtain data on the hour. However, most information is based on surveys that must be sent to respondents, then received by Statistics Portugal, their results must be analysed – due to the possibility of errors – and ultimately treated. Although the technological media at our disposal already permitted significant cuts in deadlines, namely with the use of web forms, it is not yet possible – and it will probably not be possible – to make information available on the hour. This notwithstanding, major advances have been made in this field.
