Summary
Based on data from the publication “Construction and Housing Statistics – 2009”, available today on Statistics Portugal web site, it can be concluded that in 2009 the total number of building permits decreased by 21.5% from the previous year. As regards completed buildings, there was a decrease of 4,1% from 2008. The new residential dwelling permits issued decreased 40.9% over 2008.
The number of completed buildings in requalification works increased by 2.2% from the previous year, leading to a high relevance of buildings requalification in the construction sector (+1.4 p.p).
