New Series of Portuguese Annual National Accounts for 1995-2007 - 2006 / 2007
09 June 2010

Summary
Statistics Portugal has updated the benchmark year of the Portuguese National Accounts (PNA). The previous base 2000 is now replaced by the base 2006 which is now the new reference year.
The implementation of the new base is due mainly to the adoption of the Simplified Business Information - statistical and fiscal mandatory information, covering all the companies operating in the Portuguese territory - as the main source of PNA information instead of the Structural Business Survey, a sample survey previously conducted by Statistics Portugal from 1990 to 2005.
Due to this revision, the 2006 GDP is revaluated to 160 273 million euro, a level 3.1% higher than the previous in base 2000. Simultaneously, it is also provided a new annual series for 1995-2007 consistent with the new PNA benchmark.
