In the 2nd quarter of 2024, the House Price Index (HPI) rose by 7.8% year-on-year, 0.8 percentage points (pp) more than in the previous quarter. In the reference quarter, the rate of change of existing dwellings prices was 8.3%, higher than that of new dwellings (6.6%).
Compared to the previous quarter, the HPI grew 3.9% (0.6% change in the previous quarter). By category, existing dwellings recorded a similar increase in prices to new dwellings, 3.9 % and 3.8 % respectively.
Between April and June 2024, 37,125 dwellings were transacted for a total value of 7.9 billion euros, representing an increase of 10.4% and 14.1%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
In the reference quarter, house purchases by the institutional sector of Households amounted to 31,948 units (86.1% of the total), which totalled 6.7 billion euros (85.4% of the total). In the 2nd quarter of 2024, buyers with a tax residence outside of the National Territory purchased 2,464 dwellings (6.6% of the total), which represents a year-on-year reduction of 2.8%.
