In 2023, the value of Services Provided to Enterprises (SPE) grew by 14.6% (+2.6 p.p. above the total for non-financial companies), reaching EUR 29.3 billion, although slowing down by 5.9 p.p. compared to 2022. Gross Value Added (GVA) increased by 16.5% (+20.7% in 2022), to EUR 18.2 billion euros, thus recording a variation greater than that of the total of non-financial companies (+3.0 p.p.). On the other hand, the Gross Operating Surplus (GOS) grew by 14.1% (+15.4% in 2022), amounting to EUR 4.7 billion, variation 1.6 p.p. above than that recorded in total non-financial companies.

These results correspond to 152.2 thousand enterprises (+6.1%; +6.8% in 2022), employing 546,3 thousand persons (+8.0%; +8.4% in 2022). All Business Services showed growth in persons employed in 2023, with emphasis on the Computing and Employment related activities sectors standing out with the highest increase (+14.1% and +7.9%, respectively).

Computing services continued to be the most representative activity with 37.3% of total services provided (+0.2 p.p. than in 2022), having grown 15.2% in 2023 (+26.3% in 2022) and increasing its GVA and GOS by 20.2% and 24.0%, respectively. This was followed by Accounting, auditing and consulting with 25.7% of total services provided (-0.2 p.p. than in the previous year), which grew 13.7% (+19.7% in 2022), increasing the its GVA at 14.1% and GOS at 8.6%. Architecture and Engineering, the third most representative activity (13.1% of total services provided), was the one that increased the value of service provision the most (+22.4%; +18.7% in 2022), as well as the value of GVA (+20.2%) and GOS (+29.9%).

In the total of Business Services sector, the five largest companies accounted for 24.8% of the total services provided in 2023 (24.1% in 2022). By activity, this concentration indicator ranged from a maximum of 82.1% in Publishing services of computer games to a minimum of 7.2% in Architectural activities.
