Summary

June 2024 (definitive estimates):

The active population (5,392.5 thousand people) decreased from the previous month (0.5%) and from three months before (0.6%), having increased from a year earlier (0.9%).

The employed population (5,048.0 thousand) decreased from May (0.5%) and from March 2024 (0.4%), having increased from June 2023 (0.8%).

The unemployed population (344.5 thousand) decreased from the previous month (0.7%) and from three months before (2.6%), having increased from a year earlier (2.7%).

The unemployment rate stood at 6.4%, the same value as in May, down 0.1 percentage points (pp) from March 2024 and up 0.1 pp from June 2023.

The inactive population (2,525.4 thousand) increased from the three periods under comparison: 1.4%, 2.0% and 0.6%.

The labour underutilisation rate was estimated at 11.0%, the same value as in the previous month, but down by 0.2 pp from three months before and by 0.6 pp from a year earlier.

July 2024 (provisional estimates):

The active population (5,373.0 thousand) decreased from June (0.4%) and April 2024 (0.7%), having increased from July 2023 (0.5%).

The employed population (5,041.2 thousand) decreased from the previous month (0.1%) and from three months before (0.5%), having increased from a year earlier (0.5%).

The unemployed population (331.8 thousand) decreased from the three periods under comparison: 3.7%, 4.6% and 0.6%, respectively.

The unemployment rate stood at 6.2%, down 0.2 pp both from April and June of 2024 and equal to July 2023.

The inactive population (2,552.9 thousand) increased from the three periods under comparison: 1.1%, 2.5% and 1.6%, respectively.

The labour underutilisation rate stood at 10.9%, down 0.1 pp both from April and June of 2024 and down 0.6 pp from July 2023.
