Portugal recorded the second lowest proportion of enterprises with ICT security incidents in the European Union - 2022

Summary

In 2022, 89.7% of the enterprises in Portugal, 91.8% in the European Union (EU) total, used at least one measure to ensure the integrity, availability and confidentiality of their data and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems, with authentication by secure password being the most widely used measure to ensure ICT security in enterprises (84.0%; 82.2% in the EU total).

54.4% of the enterprises reported having documents on ICT security measures, practices or procedures in 2022, Portugal being the 4th EU country with the highest percentage.

In 2021, 11.5% of the enterprises experienced ICT security incidents resulting in different types of consequences, such as the unavailability of ICT services, the destruction or corruption of data or the disclosure of confidential data. For the EU total, the proportion was 22.2%. Portugal stood out positively, being the 2nd EU country to record the lowest proportion of enterprises with security incidents (11.5%), just after Bulgaria (11.0%).
