2022 olive oil campaign with the fourth largest production ever, despite the significant decrease (-40%)
Agricultural forecasts
2022 olive oil campaign with the fourth largest production ever, despite the significant decrease (-40%) - January 2023
17 February 2023

Summary

Early estimates, on January 31, point to an olive oil production, in the 2022 campaign, of around 1.375 million hectolitres (about 126 thousand tonnes), which corresponds to a decrease of 40% compared to the previous campaign. Even so, in a year with very adverse meteorological and hydrological conditions and after the record production of olive oil in 2021 (with 2.29 million hectolitres), the production in 2022 should be the fourth largest ever.

As for winter cereals, the difficulties experienced in setting up crops due to soil waterlogging, which prevented machines from entering the land for sowing, led to a decrease in the sowed area of common wheat (-15%), durum wheat (-25%), barley (-5%) and triticale (-10%).
