Business confidence recovers in all sectors for the second consecutive month. Consumer confidence continues to deteriorate - April 2007

Summary
In April the Business Climate Indicator recovered for the third consecutive time, resuming the upward trend started in October 2005 that become more marked after June 2006.
The confidence indicator in manufacturing industry recovered again, which happens for the fourth consecutive time, standing above its average since the start of the year. In services the confidence indicator improved in April, resuming the upward trend started in August 2005. In trade, the confidence indicator evolved again to a less unfavourable situation, but remained below the series average. The recovery observed in the month under review was again common to wholesale trade and retail trade. In construction and public works, the confidence indicator recovered, albeit less than in the previous month, standing now at its less unfavourable level since September 2005.
In April the Consumer Confidence Indicator deteriorated, continuing the downward trend started in November.
