Summary
On 31 January early estimates pointed to a decline in the cereal surface cultivated from the previous year. Weather conditions favoured cereal development, allowing for its good rooting and promoting sprouting. Oat unit yield, after the bad 2005 crop year, is expected to increase, and even to exceed the average for the last five years. Olive for olive oil production declined by 30%, reflecting again the draught situation last year.
