Summary
From 1994 to 2004 demand for hotels by tourists increased by 40% in the Greater Metropolitan Area of Porto. This rise is higher than that observed in the Norte Region, but lower than that recorded for Portugal and for the Greater Metropolitan Area of Lisbon. The periods corresponding to the organisation of international events are associated with a more dynamic demand for hotels in the Greater Metropolitan Area of Porto.
