Summary
The benchmark revision of the Sistema de Contas Nacionais Portuguesas (Portuguese national accounts system) led to an average revaluation of GDP at 4.9% for the period now made available (1995-2000), with the lowest value for 1996 (4.2%) and the highest for 2000 (5.5%). This is the result of a number of adjustments introduced in the re-basing process, the most relevant of which is the new treatment of the Financial Intermediation Services Indirectly Measured (FISIM), the method for calculating actual rentals and estimating imputed rentals, which, as a whole, contribute with approximately 55% to total revaluations in 2000.
