Summary

In June 2022, the number of deaths was 10,156, lower than that registered in May 2022 (217 less deaths; -2.1%) and higher than that observed in June 2021 (1,941 more deaths; +23.6%). From January to June 2022, there were 63,926 deaths, 3,386 fewer deaths than in the same period of 2021 (-5.0%).

In June 2022, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 increased to 977 (108 more deaths than in May 2022), accounting for 9.6% of all deaths. Compared with June 2021, there was an increase of 901 deaths due to COVID-19.

In May 2022, 6,772 children were born alive, corresponding to a reduction of 0.6%, compared to the same month of 2021. However, the total number of live births registered in the first five months of 2022 (31,979) was higher than that observed in the same period of 2021 (31,504), representing 475 more (1.5 %) live births.

In May 2022, the natural balance was -3,570, having increased compared to the same month of 2021, when it recorded the value of -1,807. In the first five months of 2022, the accumulated value of the natural balance was -21,672, improving the figure registered in the same period of 2021 (-27,576).

The number of marriages celebrated in May 2022 was 3,503, corresponding to 1.3 times the number of marriages celebrated in May 2021 (887 more marriages). From January to May 2022, 9,909 marriages were celebrated, 4,476 more than in the same period of 2021.
