July 2022:
• The active population (5,189.5 thousand) increased by 0.2% from June 2022, by 0.1% from April of that year, and by 0.4% from July 2021.
• The employed population (4,879.8 thousand) increased from the previous month (0.2%) and from one year before (1.1%), but it has decreased by 1.8 thousand from three months before (which corresponds to a nearly null relative change).
• The unemployed population (310.1 thousand) remained practically unchanged from June, increased by 1.8% from April and decreased by 9.0% from July 2021.
• The unemployment rate stood at 6.0%, remained unchanged from the previous month, up 0.1 percentage points (pp) from three months before and down 0.6 pp from a year earlier.
• The inactive population (2,470.6 thousand) decreased from the three periods under comparison, respectively: by 0.4%, 0.2% and 1.6%.
• The labour underutilisation rate was estimated at 11.5%, down 0.1 pp from the previous month, up 0.1 pp from three months before and down 0.9 pp from the same month of 2021.
August 2022:
• The active population (5,196.9 thousand) increased by 0.1% from July, by 0.3% from May, and by 0.7% from August 2021.
• The employed population (4,884.4 thousand) has also increased from the three periods under comparison: 0.1%, 0.3% and 1.0%, respectively.
• The unemployed population (312.5 thousand) increased from the previous month (0.8%) and from three months before (0.4%), having decreased from a year earlier (4.3%).
• The unemployment rate stood at 6.0% as in the July and May of 2022, but down 0.3 pp from one year before.
• The inactive population (2,461.8 thousand) decreased from the three periods under comparison, respectively: 0.4%, 0.7% and 2.2%.
• The labour underutilisation rate stood at 11.4%, down 0.1 pp both from the previous month and three months before and down 0.7 pp from the same month of 2021.
