Summary

March 2022:

The active population (5,188.6 thousand) increased by 0.1% from the previous month, had a null relative change from three months before and increased by 2.9% from the same month of 2021.

The employed population (4,889.2 thousand) remained almost unchanged from the previous month and increased from three months before (0.1%) and from the same month of 2021 (4.0%).

The unemployed population (299.4 thousand) increased by 2.1% from February of 2021, having decreased by 1.4% from three months before and by 11.2% from March of last year.

The unemployment rate stood at 5.8%, up 0.1 percentage points(pp) from the previous month, down 0.1 pp from three months before and down 0.9 pp from a year earlier.

The inactive population (2,473.1 thousand) decrease from the three comparison periods: 0.3%, 0.9% and 6.1%, respectively.

The labour underutilisation rate was estimated at 11.2%, down 0.1 pp from the previous month, down 0.2 pp from three months before and down 1.7 pp from a year earlier.

April 2022:

The active population (5,183.2 thousand) decreased by 0.1% from March 2022, remained almost unchanged from January of 2022 and increased by 2.2% from April 2021.

The employed population (4,882.7 thousand) decreased by 0.1% from the previous month, had a null relative change from three months before, having increased by 3.5% from a year earlier.

The unemployed population (300.4 thousand) increased by 0.3% from the previous month, by 0.5% from January of the same year, having decreased from April of last year (14.7%).

The unemployment rate stood at 5.8%, remained unchanged both from the previous month and three months before, but down 1.1 pp from a year before.

The inactive population (2,477.4 thousand) increased by 0.2% from the previous month and decreased by 0.2% and by 4.9% from three months before and from a year earlier, respectively.

The labour underutilisation rate stood at 11.2%, the same value as in the previous month, down 0.1 pp from three months before and down 1.8 pp from April 2021.
