Tourism activity still on the rise - October 2019

Summary

The tourism accommodation sector registered 2.5 million guests and 6.4 million overnight stays in October 2019, corresponding to year-on-year rates of change  of +5.4% and +2.1% respectively (+5.1% and +3.4% in September 2019, in the same order). Overnight stays of residents grew by 0.1% (+4.6% in September) and those of non-residents increased by 2.7% (+2.9% in the preceding month).
In October 2019, the average stay (2.55 nights) decreased by 3.2% (-1.0% as regards residents and -4.7% for non residents).
The net bed occupancy rate (48.7%) declined by 1.2 p.p. (-1.3 p.p. in September).
Total revenue decelerated to 5.4% (+6.8% in September) attaining EUR 387.9 million. Revenue from accommodation (EUR 289.1 million) grew by 6.7% (+6.9% in the preceding month).
The average revenue per available room (RevPAR) stood at EUR 50.3 and corresponded to a 2.2% increase (+1.7% in the previous month) and the average daily rate (ADR) reached EUR 84.8 (+3.1, from +2.8% in the preceding month).
