Concentration levels of the traded value in a limited number of enterprises decreased, both in exports and imports of goods - 2016
16 November 2017

Summary

The 100 biggest exporters and importers of goods concentrated around 40% of the value in each flow. Although they have remained significant, concentration levels of the traded value in a reduced number of enterprises decreased in 2016 comparing with the previous year, both in exports and imports of goods.
The majority of enterprises continued to trade goods with only one partner country, but enterprises with a wider variety of markets (at least 20 partner countries) concentrated the largest portion of the traded value: 41.6% in exports and 25.9% in imports.
This Press Release (only available in Portuguese) includes a specific analysis concerning the transactions of goods of the “gazelles”, the young high growth enterprises, in the year 2016. Around 60% had transactions of goods with foreign partners and presented a higher diversification in destination markets than in the global of the exporters.
