In 2016 the 124 264 tonnes of fresh and chilled fishery was the second lowest volume of fishery catches since the beginning of statistical series (1969), showing a decrease of 11.8% vis-a-vis 2015.
The income of fish landed raised 3.3% moved by the price increase (+15.9%). The price of fish landed reached 2.10 €/kg, the highest value since statistical records are available.
The relation between the accumulated variation of prices of fish landed and CPI (Consumer Price Index) points to a gradual diversion, with the biggest differences in years 2007, 2008 e 2015. On the other hand, the comparison between prices of fish landed and the unitary values of imported fish shows that imported fresh and chilled sea fish was, was an average, 2.3 times higher in 2011/2016.
International trade balance deficit of the fishery activity had a worsening of 66 million Euros, reaching 787.4 million Euros.
