The 10 major enterprises accounted for around 1/5 of total exports and imports - 2014
27 October 2015

Summary

In international transactions it should be underlined that there is a significant concentration of traded value in a limited number of enterprises: in 2014 the 10 major enterprises in each flow accounted for around 1/5 of total exports and imports. This concentration was higher in Extra-EU trade: the 5 major enterprises accounted for 23.0% of exports, while in imports this ratio was 51.6%.
Comparing to the average values for the period 2010-2013, slight decreases were recorded in the concentration of exports in a reduced number of enterprises.
Enterprises with a wider variety of markets concentrated the highest value of international trade in 2014: 42.4% in exports and 28.7% in imports. However, most of the enterprises traded goods with only one country: 69.3% of exporters and 86.6% of importers.
Vis-à-vis the average values for the last four years, a higher diversification of markets was registered, both in exports and imports and mainly for Third Countries, in response to the economic crisis that has been felt particularly in Europe.
