In 2015, 96% of the Portuguese enterprises with 10 or more persons employed connect to the internet via broadband access, a proportion that continues to grow vis-à-vis the figures observed in previous years.
The use of fixed broadband technology still prevails as the main type of connection used by businesses to access the internet via broadband (94% in 2015). However, the proportion of enterprises that are connected to the internet using mobile broadband is the one that has mostly increased in recent years.
The use of e-commerce by businesses has increased over the past 5 years, mainly associated to the increase in orders received, 5 percentage points (p.p.) in 2014 compared to 2013. In 2014, Portugal was both the main destination and origin of electronic received and placed orders (respectively, 97% and 90% of enterprises using e-commerce).
In 2015, 61% of the enterprises with 10 or more persons employed have a website, 6 p.p. more than in the previous year.
Almost half of the enterprises with 10 or more persons employed have implemented a formally defined ICT security policy.
