Summary
The Portuguese Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 3.0% in August 2008 when compared with August 2007. On a monthly ba-sis, the CPI decreased 0.5%. The CPI 12-month average rate of change increased from 2.7% in July 2008 to 2.8% in August.
In August, the Portuguese Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) increased 3.1% when compared with the same month of the previous year, 0.7 percentage points below the rate estimated by Eurostat for the Euro area.
