Summary

August 2024 (definitive estimates):

The active population (5,436.9 thousand people) increased from the previous month (0.5%), from three months before (0.3%) and from a year earlier (1.4%).

The employed population (5,090.9 thousand) increased from the three periods under comparison: 0.6%, 0.3% and 1.4%, respectively.

The unemployed population (346.0 thousand) decreased from the previous month (0.9%), remained almost unchanged from three months before, having increased from a year earlier (1.2%).

The unemployment rate stood at 6.4%, down 0.1 percentage points (pp) from July and equal to May 2024 and August 2023.

The inactive population (2,493.9 thousand) decreased from the previous month (0.9%) and from the same month of 2023 (0.2%), having increased by 0.2% from three months before.

The labour underutilisation rate was estimated at 10.7%, down from the three periods under comparison: 0.3 pp, 0.2 pp and 0.9 pp.

September 2024 (provisional estimates):

The active population (5,459.1 thousand) increased from August of the same year (0.4%), from June 2024 (1.1%) and from September 2023 (1.4%).

The employed population (5,107.2 thousand) increased from the three periods under comparison: 0.3%, 1.1% and 1.6%, respectively.

The unemployed population (351.9 thousand) increased from the month before (1.7%) and from three months before (0.9%), having decreased from a year earlier (1.2%).

The unemployment rate stood at 6.4%, the same value from the previous month, down 0.1 pp from three months before and from a year earlier (0.2 pp).

The inactive population (2,477.6 thousand) decreased from the three periods under comparison: 0.7%, 1.6% and 0.3%.

The labour underutilisation rate stood at 10.8%, up 0.1 pp from August 2024 and down from June 2024 (0.2 pp) and from September 2023 (0.9 pp).
