Business confidence recovers in all sectors, excluding services; Consumer Confidence Indicator continues to improve
- September 2006
03 October 2006
In September the Business Climate Indicator stabilised at the highest level since September 2004, after a clear upward shift over the three previous months.
The confidence levels in manufacturing industry recovered over the last four months, reaching their highest level since September 2001. Turning to services, the confidence indicator deteriorated slightly in September, but remained close to the relatively high level observed in July and August. In trade, in turn, confidence recovered over the last two months, but this month behaviour was only the result of the recovery in wholesale trade. As regards construction and public works, the confidence indicator improved slightly over the last two months, but remained, however, very close to the level recorded in July, which was the lowest observed since December 2003.
In September the Consumer Confidence Indicator recovered again, continuing the upward trend started in February.
