Unemployment rate estimated at 7.3%

In the second quarter of 2006, the estimated unemployment rate was 7.3%. This is 0.1 percentage points (p.p.) higher than that of the same period of 2005 and 0.4 p.p. lower than that of the previous quarter. The unemployed population were estimated to be 405.6 thousand individuals, which corresponds to an increase of 1.6% from the same quarter of the previous year, and to a decline of 5.6% from the previous quarter. The number of employed persons rose by 1.0% vis-à-vis the same quarter of 2005 and by 1.1% from the previous quarter.
