Air Emissions Accounts
Air Emissions Accounts: Greenhouse gas emissions reach a historical minimum in 2010
- 2010
09 October 2012
Summary
In 2010, it is estimated a reduction of the greenhouse gas emissions by 6.6%, reaching an historical minimum for the series started in 1995. This evolution maintains the trend observed since 2006, of dissociation between the evolution of economic activity and greenhouse gas emissions. The branch Energy, water supply and sewerage presents the lowest relative weight of this type of emissions in the period in analysis. The fact that 2010 was the year of highest rainfall since 2001 was determinant for this minimum, alongside with the continued growth of the use of other energy forms with fewer emissions, particularly natural gas and wind power.
