MARCH 2022 23 MONTHLY STATISTICAL BULLETIN The services turnover increased by 22.1% In January 2022: • The Services Turnover Index1 (STI) registered a nominal year-on-year rate of change of 22.1% (+5.3 p.p. than in the previous month). The strong recovery in Hotels, Restaurants and Similar Establishments, with a growth of 71.3%, was noteworthy; The strong growth in the STI reflects base effects, as in January 2021 the year-on-year rate of change had been -16.4%; The aggregate index remained higher than in the pre-pandemic period; • The remaining indices concerning services registered the following year-onyear rates of change: » Employment: 4.2% (3.8% in December); » Wages and salaries: 4.2% (3.9% in December); » Hours worked (adjusted of calendar effects): 9.2% (2.5% in December); • The month-on-month rate of change concerning the STI was 3.7% (-4.1% in the previous month) 1 Nominal data adjusted of calendar ans seasonal effects.
