MAY 2022 40 Traffic at national airports, March 2022 (year-on-year rates of change, %) Aircraft landed at national airports The average daily number of disembarked passengers approaches pre-pandemic levels In March 2022, at the Portuguese airports: • 14,800 aircraft landed on commercial flights (+250.2% compared to March 2021); • The number of passengers, considering all the embarked, disembarked, and direct transits, was 3.6 million (+725.2% in year-on-year terms); • On average, 59.4 thousand passengers disembarked per day (47.8 thousand in the previous month), i.e., eight times higher than that recorded in the same month of 2021 (7.2 thousand), approaching that observed in March 2019 (69.5 thousand); • Cargo and mail handled amounted to 18.8 thousand tonnes (+27.0% compared to March 2021).
