2022 Edition 30 More information is available at: International trade statistics – December 2021 9 February 2022 In the 4th quarter of 2021: • Compared with the same period in 2020, exports and imports of goods increased by 13.2% and 28.7%, respectively (+9.3% and +23.6%, in the same order, in the quarter ending November 2021); • Compared with the 4th quarter of 2019, there were increases of 9.7% in exports and 16.5% in imports. In 2021 as a whole: • When compared to 2020: » Exports increased by 18.1% (-10.3% the previous year); » Imports grew by 21.1% (-14.8% the previous year); » The deficit of trade balance in goods increased by €4,653 million to €19,041 million; • When compared to 2019: » Exports increased by 6.0%; » Imports grew by 3.2%; » The deficit of trade balance in goods decreased by €1,033 million to €20,074 million; » In both flows, the increase in Industrial supplies (+14.1% in exports and +23.5% in imports; +26.8% and +35.8%, respectively, compared to 2020) and the decrease in Transport equipment stood out (-10.1% and -30.9%, respectively; +8.6% and +3.5% compared to 2020, in the same order).
