FEBRUARY 2022 29 MONTHLY STATISTICAL BULLETIN Exports and imports increased by 23.4% and 34.7% respectively, in nominal terms The 2021 preliminary results point to levels above those of 2019: +6.0% in exports and +3.2% in imports In December 2021: • Exports and imports of goods registered year-on-year increases of 23.4% and 34.7%, respectively (+16.2% and +34.4% in the previous month, in the same order); • When compared to December 2019, there were also positive rates of change: 14.5% in exports and 27.7% in imports; • The following year-on-year increases stood out: » In exports and imports of Industrial supplies: 35.3% and 49.6%, respectively (+41.0% and +58.6% compared to 2019); » In imports of Fuels and lubricants: 111.8% (+40.0% compared to 2019); • Excluding Fuels and lubricants, exports grew by 23.6% and imports increased by 28.1% year-on-year (+16.5% and +25.7% in the previous month, in the same order); • Compared to December 2019, also excluding Fuels and lubricants, exports increased by 19.7% and imports grew by 26.1%; Exports - Total (year-on-year rate of change) • Compared to the previous month, exports and imports of goods decreased by 13.1% and 6.8% respectively (+8.2% and +8.0%, in the same order, in November 2021); • The deficit of trade balance of goods amounted to €2,430 million, standing for increases of €982 million compared to December 2020 and €1,001 million compared to the same month in 2019; • Excluding Fuels and lubricants, the trade balance stood at €-1,785 million, corresponding to increases in the deficit of €535 million compared to December 2020 and €581 million compared to December 2019.
