2022 Edition 14 MONTHLY STATISTICAL BULLETIN CPI year-on-year rate of change estimated at 4.2% Flash estimate In February 2022, the following rates of change will have been recorded in year-on-year terms: • Total Consumer Price Index (CPI): 4.2% (3.3% in the previous month); • Core inflation index (total index excluding unprocessed food and energy): 3.2% (2.4% in the previous month); • Energy products index: 14.9% (12.1% in the previous month); • Unprocessed food products index: 3.8% (3.4% in January). In February, compared to the previous month, the CPI rate of change should have been 0.4% (0.3% in January 2022 and -0.5% in February 2021). It is estimated that in February 2022, the average rate of change concerning the CPI in the last twelve months was 1.8% (1.5% in the previous month). In February 2022, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HIPC) - the most appropriate inflation indicator for comparisons between the different countries in the European Union, and in particular in the Euro Area - should have registered in Portugal a year-on-year rate of change of 4.4% (3.4% in the previous month).
