MARCH 2022 31 MONTHLY STATISTICAL BULLETIN Exports and imports increased by 22.2% and 37.5% respectively, in nominal terms In January 2022: • Exports and imports of goods registered year-on-year increases of 22.2% and 37.5%, respectively (+24.1% and +35.1% in the previous month, in the same order); • Compared to January 2020, there were also positive rates of change: 9.7% in exports and 13.3% in imports; • The following year-on-year increases stood out: » In exports and imports of Industrial supplies: 33.7% and 48.7%, respectively (+27.7% and +41.4% compared to January 2020); » In imports of Fuels and lubricants: 115.7% (+16.2% compared to January 2020). • Excluding Fuels and lubricants, in year-on-year terms, exports grew by 19.5% and imports increased by 29.9%, respectively (+24.1% and +28.8% in the previous month, in the same order); • Compared to January 2020, also excluding Fuels and lubricants, exports increased by 10.3% and imports grew by 12.8%; Exports - Total (year-on-year rate of change) • The deficit of trade balance in goods amounted to €1,939 million, representing increases of €1,041 million compared to January 2021 and €389 million compared to the same month in 2020; • Excluding Fuels and lubricants, the trade balance stood at €-1,310 million, which corresponds to increases in the deficit of €652 million compared to January 2021 and €254 million compared to January 2020. In the quarter ended January 2022: • Compared with a year earlier, exports and imports of goods increased by 20.8% and 35.8% respectively (+13.6% and +28.9%, in the same order, in the 4th quarter of 2021); • Compared with the quarter ended January 2020, there were increases of 13.6% in exports and 20.0% in imports.
