MARCH 2022 25 MONTHLY STATISTICAL BULLETIN Housing prices increased by 9.4% in 2021 and 1.6% in the 4th quarter of 2021 House Price Index (year-on-year rate of change) In 2021: • The Housing Price Index (HPI) registered an average annual rate of change of 9.4% (0.6 p.p. more than the previous year); • The rise in prices was more intense for existing dwellings (9.6%) than for new dwellings (8.7%); • 165,682 dwellings were transacted (20.5% more than in 2020), the highest record since the beginning of the series; • The value of transactions amounted to €28.1 billion in total (+31.1% on the previous year), with the following rates of change, also year-on-year: » Existing dwellings: +34.2%; » New dwellings: +21.7%; • When considering the number of transactions, the year-on-year rates of change were: » Existing dwellings: +22.1%; » New dwellings: +12.9%.
