2022 Edition 20 Compared to the previous year, the preliminary results for 2021 point to: • With regard to the transport of passengers: » Increases in transport by air (+39.3%; -69.4% in 2020), by railway (+11.5%; -38.8% in 2020) and by inland waterways (+2.0%; -42.8% in 2020); » Decrease in light railway systems: -2.8% (-48.1% in 2020); • In freight transport, increase in all modes of transport: » Air transport: 29.8% (-30.2% in 2020); » By railway: 11.0% (-7.6% in 2020); » Road freight: 11.2% (-14.8% in 2020); » Sea transport: 5.2% (-7.0% in 2020); • In pipeline transport: an increase of 7.6% (-31.7% the previous year); • In the transport of gas by pipeline: » Slight decrease in inflows: -0.1% (-3.3% in 2020); » Slight increase in outflows: +0.3% (-3.2% in 2020).
