2022 Edition 10 MONTHLY STATISTICAL BULLETIN 15.1% of self-employed are in an economic dependence situation and 11.4% are in organisational dependence When considering the 687.3 thousand self-employed in 2021 and referring to the last twelve months: Between 2 and 9 clients, none dominant 17.6% 10 or more clients, none dominant 65.4% No clients 1.8% Only 1 client 10.1% Between 2 and 9 clients and one dominant 3.7% 10 or more clients and one dominant 1.3% Other 15.1% This means that 15.1% (104.1 thousand) of the self-employed had a client who represented 75% or more of the income from their activity (after taxes), which is an indicator of economic dependence. Of the total number of self-employed: • 72.4% (497.8 thousand) determined their working hours without restrictions; • For 16.1% (110.9 thousand), the working hours were determined by a circumstance other than their customers (by legal provisions, for example); • For 11.4% (78.6 thousand), the working hours were set by the clients, which is an indicator of organisational dependence. Daily working hours set by the worker himself without restric�ons 72.4% Daily working hours set according to the clients 11.4% Daily working hours set by another circumstance 16.1% The analysis of the results by gender shows that it is more men who have clients with determining importance in their activity, given that: • 10.4% had only 1 client in twelve months (compared to 9.6% for women); • 4.4% had 2 to 9 clients, one of whomwas dominant (2.6% of the women were in this situation). By activity sector, the existence of a single client was more predominant in the primary sector (36.0%), while in the tertiary sector it was more common to have 10 or more clients, none of which was dominant (74.3%).
