MAY 2022 54 Fishery statistics 2021 At the end of 2021, when compared to 2020: • The number of registered fishermen decreased by 2.7% (407 fewer fishermen); Registered fishermen at national ports on the 31st of December • The Centre for Professional Training in Fisheries and the Sea (FOR-MAR) carried out 120 more training actions, amounting to 537 actions; • The number of trainees attending FOR-MAR actions increased by 38.6%, i.e., 7,249 trainees in total; • The fishing fleet lost 63 registered vessels1. The total number of vessels is 7.655; • There were 14 more licensed vessels2, the total being 3,894 vessels; • Vessels leaving the fleet: 101, i.e., 21 more vessels; • The volume of fish landings by mainland fishery producer organisations (PO) increased by 30.6%.
