Summary
This publication presents an overview of the trend of housing stock in Portugal in the last decade (2001-2011), based on recently released final results of the Housing Census 2011.
In this context, the main goal of this study is the analysis of different characterizations of housing stock, namely: evaluation of the housing stock in terms of the number of buildings, dwellings, families and type of occupation of dwelling; analysis of the dwelling occupancy index and housing conditions; conservation status of the existing housing and analysis of housing rehabilitation dynamics in the last decade; analysis of housing needs in quantitative and qualitative terms; type of occupation, financial burden with house purchase and tenancy characterization; analysis of constructive dynamism in terms of the evolution of licensing works comparing to housing stock.
