Summary
Between July and September 2009, the number of passengers in national airports presented a year-on-year decrease of 2.5%, reaching 8.9 million passengers. The 3rd quarter fall in the movement of passengers also occurred in heavy rail mode (-2.9%), in light railway transport (-0.8%) and in inland waterway transport ( 1.9%). The transport of goods also revealed year-on-year reductions in the different modes although with less sharp decreases compared with the previous quarter: -1.2% in maritime mode, -7.8% in air mode and  16.5% in heavy rail mode. In the 2nd quarter of 2009, about 70 999 thousands tonnes were transported in road freight transport (-6.4% compared with 2008).
