Summary
The CPI recorded an annual rate of change of 3.1% in August 2012 (2.8% in the previous month). Excluding energy and unprocessed food, the annual rate was 1.4%. The monthly change rate of the CPI was -0.1% (0.0% in July 2012 and  0.4% in August 2011), while the 12-month average rate remained stable at 3.3% in August.
In August 2012, the Portuguese Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) annual inflation rate was 3.2%, 0.6 p.p. above the rate estimated by Eurostat for the Euro area.
