Summary
The new orders in construction index presented a year-on-year decrease of 51.1% in the 2nd quarter 2012 (change rate of -32.5% in the 1st quarter 2012). This more negative behaviour was mainly driven by the stronger reduction observed in the sector of Civil Engineering, which moved from a change rate of -38.0% in the 1st quarter 2012 to -67.9% in the following quarter. The Building Construction index presented a year-on-year change rate of -36.1% in the 2nd quarter 2012 (-28.6% in the previous quarter). The quarterly change rate of the new orders in construction index was -19.0%.
