Summary
The movement of goods in sea ports increased by 10% in the 1st quarter of 2012 compared with the same period of the previous year. On the contrary, the transport of goods in rail and air modes registered declines in year-on-year terms (-4.5% and -4.3%, respectively).
There were decreases in the number of passengers transported in inland waterways (-9.2%), as well as in heavy railway mode (-8.4%) and in the light railway systems of Lisbon (-7.7%) and Porto (-1.7%), when compared with the same quarter of the previous year.
